The Toronto Maple Leafs are pursuing pending free agent defenseman Nikita Zadorov again, after missing out on him at the NHL trade deadline.

Zadorov, whose contract with the Flames has expired, was strongly linked to a return under his former GM Brad Treliving in Toronto. However, negotiations have stalled between the Canucks and his agent, Dan Milstein of Gold Star Hockey, leaving Zadorov's future uncertain.
Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal reports that a final contract offer for Zadorov is anticipated before he enters free agency, with negotiations hinting at a potential six-year deal around $6 million annually.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, speaking on 'Leafs Morning Take' with Jay Rosehill and Nick Alberga, suggests that the Leafs will aggressively pursue Zadorov once more. He is seen as a key target among their options in free agency as Toronto seeks to add at least two experienced defensemen.
"I think they like Zadorov. I think they like Tanev. I think they like Montour. Pesce, yes, Walker, yes. I think they like all these guys. I had guys tell me the Leafs are going to try to get two of these guys."

During the past season, 29-year-old Zadorov tallied 6 goals, 14 assists, and 20 points in 75 games split between the Flames and Canucks. In Vancouver's playoff run, he notched 4 goals, 4 assists, and 8 points in 13 games.
