The Pittsburgh Penguins moved Marcus Pettersson on Friday, and now, it appears GM Kyle Dubas is ready to take calls on the teams other veterans as the Penguins look to establish their future beyond Sidney Crosby.

This season has been a struggle for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and with the team sitting in last place in the Metropolitan Division, veteran Erik Karlsson has opened up on his frustrating tenure with the team.

That lack of success appears to be leading the teams towards selling ahead of the trade deadline, with the team moving Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor on Friday to acquire another first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Now, Kyle Dubas has opened up on the process, and from all accounts, it appears as though he's ready to move out even more veterans, with the recent salary cap rise leading to more teams contacting them about their veteran players.

While he's well aware of how well the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are playing in the AHL, Dubas alluded to giving some of their young names more responsibility later in the season, with players in the NHL like Karlsson, Kris Letang, Kevin Hayes and others potentially on the move.

What will he do with all of these draft picks? That's not yet been clear on all of them, but Dubas doesn't intend to use every single one on draft night, and will aggressively shop their picks to land young players that fit their future timeline in the next few weeks.

«Pittsburgh will continue to listen. They're going to look to see what other deals are available to them. Michael Bunting. Rickard Rakell has generated a lot of interest, (although) there's hesitancy to move them, but they will listen. Erik Karlsson. Anthony Beauvillier is another pending UFA. Matt Grzelcyk. They've got a lot of pieces that are up in the air that they are going to continue to listen on.» - David Pagnotta said

At this point in time, everyone but Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin could be available in Pittsburgh, but with the team already picking up the likes of Philip Tomasino this season, expect them to continue getting younger as they build for the future.
