Three Canadian Teams Linked to Montreal Canadiens Forward
Three Canadian teams were linked to a Montreal Canadiens forward in a new report from The Fourth Period.
Last night, the Canadiens suffered their fifth straight loss, positioning themselves in a bad spot for the Eastern Conference playoff race.
At this point, if the players can't turn things around, the Habs will be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline.
Even though most fans would love to see Kent Hughes, the Canadiens' general manager, keep the team as it is for the rest of the season, we could see top trade assets such as David Savard and Jake Evans switching teams at the deadline.
According to a new report from The Fourth Period, six teams were linked to Jake Evans, including three Canadian organizations.
Set to become a free agent at the end of the season, Evans has been playing the best hockey of his career this year, emerging as a solid two-way forward who can help the team produce offensively and defend against the opponents' top lines.
Most teams would love to have a player like him for the playoffs, but TFP wrote that the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Winnipeg Jets could make offers to Montreal for Evans.
He added that the Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, and Carolina Hurricanes are also among the interested teams.
In his own words:
"Evans is having a career-year and has a very attractive cap hit. He will be due for a hefty raise if he keeps up his production at both ends of the ice and will be highly coveted ahead of the deadline.
The Habs are interested in signing him to a new deal, though, but they'll also listen to see if a team blows them out of the water with a big offer.
Teams reportedly Linked:
Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Carolina"
