Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl future with the Edmonton Oilers confirmed
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have both reaffirmed their commitment to the Edmonton Oilers' organization.
As the Florida Panthers edge closer to the Stanley Cup with just one win needed, Oilers fans are beginning to shift their attention toward the offseason.
Unless the Oilers can mount a miraculous four-game winning streak against the Panthers, this season will be deemed a disappointment.
"It's Cup or bust," said Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid at the beginning of the season.
Following a disappointing outcome, management faces challenging decisions to enhance the team before the next season begins.
Concerns among fans about the potential departure of either Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid in the event of not winning a Stanley Cup were alleviated by a reassuring new report.
Draisaitl and McDavid intend to remain with Edmonton for the long haul.
According to Frank Seravalli, both Draisaitl and McDavid have informed Oilers' management of their long-term commitment to Edmonton.
"Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have reportedly made it clear to the Edmonton Oilers management/owners that they have no intentions of leaving or testing free agency, and want to re-sign long-term in Edmonton. Per Frank Seravalli."
Draisaitl's contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, and according to Bob Stauffer, discussions have already begun for an extension with the team.
"According to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers and Draisaitl have already begun extension discussions, and Draisaitl wants to be locked up long-term, not like the Auston Matthews deal in Toronto." Are you taken aback by Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid's plans for their future with the Edmonton Oilers?
