Oilers' goalie Stuart Skinner faces heavy criticism from former referee Tim Peel
Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner faced severe criticism from former referee Tim Peel amidst Edmonton's precarious position, one game away from a Stanley Cup Finals sweep.
Peel, who has been vocal about NHL issues on social media for years, has spoken out again.
With the Stanley Cup Finals possibly concluding tonight and the Panthers poised to sweep the Oilers in Edmonton, Peel highlighted Stuart Skinner's lackluster performances as a factor in Edmonton's struggles to secure victories.
He noted that in game three, the Oilers restricted the Panthers to 19 shots on Skinner (according to NHL.com, 23), yet the goalie still conceded four goals, which is insufficient in the Stanley Cup Finals.

"I'm not blaming Stuart Skinner but this is the Stanley Cup Final. 4 goals on 19 shots is not good enough!"
Peel expressed disappointment with the Finals and questioned whether the Dallas Stars would have posed a stronger challenge than the Oilers.
"Looks like that delayed flight really hurt the #TimeToHunt. Must have been rough being delayed eating shrimp and steak with a glass of 🍷. What a disappointing SCFinal! Would #TexasHockey have given the Cats a better challenge? This is a team that could quite easily repeat next year! #LetsGoOilers"
The Oilers are confronting
Sergei Bobrovsky, who's been exceptional in goal, while Skinner hasn't been able to match his performance.
In response to a fan's comment that the Final isn't decided yet, he simply replied:
Like many fans, the former referee predicts the Panthers will win tonight and conclude the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
