Dan Bylsma led the Pittsburgh Penguins as head coach for six years. Achieving milestones such as a Stanley Cup victory in 2009, earning a Jack Adams Award in 2011 and securing 252 wins for the team. His tenure established him as one of the best coaches in the franchises history.
Following his departure from the Penguins in 2014, Bylsma took on the role of head coach for the Buffalo Sabres for a two year term. Subsequently he transitioned to an assistant coaching position with the Detroit Red Wings. But did not continue beyond the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.
The Seattle Kraken brought Bylsma on board when they started their franchise. He now leads their AHL team, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. There could be opportunities for Bylsma to advance in his career soon.
The Kraken's are in search of a new head coach, and as per Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Bylsma seems to be the candidate.
Friedman has previously mentioned Bylsma as a candidate for the Kraken position. Now it seems likely that he will be making his comeback to the NHL after a few great seasons with the Firebirds.
During his time leading the Penguins, Bylsma stood out as a standout rookie coach making a mark in history. In 2013 he achieved the feat of becoming the fastest coach to reach 200 victories and ultimately cementing his legacy as the most victorious head coach in Penguins history.
