Once again this season, the Winnipeg Jets have been firing from all cylinders. With Hart Trophy-worthy performances from Connor Hellebuyck, the team could very well have one of their longest playoff runs in years.
To do so, however, they should consider adding talent at their blue line, where depth seems to be lacking.
With the trade deadline coming up in just over a month, rumors are circulating everywhere. In a new report, David Pagnotta revealed that the Jets could be interested in Ryan Lindgren, the New York Rangers defenseman.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, it would be surprising to see the Rangers extending his contract, meaning a trade before the deadline could be a likely scenario.
Here's what Pagnotta wrote in a recent report:
Pagnotta also revealed that the Jets' division rivals Dallas Stars could be in the derby to acquire him.
In the end, the team that makes the best offer to the Rangers will get him.
This season, Lindgren, 26, scored two goals and ten assists in 44 games with the struggling Rangers.
He's a responsible defenseman who could play an important role for a team in the playoffs, as he did with the Rangers in the past three straight seasons, scoring 10 points in 40 post-season games.
Tonight, he will be in action with the Rangers against the Carolina Hurricanes in a crucial game for his current team's playoff race.
