The Buffalo Sabres may have already traded a defenseman this season by sending Colton Poolman to the in the first week of January, but a new report emerged suggesting that the organization isn't done making changes at the blue line.
Even if most of the trade rumors involving the Buffalo Sabres include forward Dylan Cozens, two other players could end up being traded this season, amid the team's struggles: the former first-overall pick Owen Power and the player acquired on the trade market from the Colorado Avalanche in the Casey Mittelstadt trade Bowen Byram.
Indeed, the Sabres' general manager Kevyn Adams is apparently taking calls on both Power and Byram.
This is what the insider David Pagnotta wrote in a recent paper on The Fourth Period:
The Sabres have all it takes to finally have a breakout season, but many, many years into their rebuild process, they haven't been able to succeed once again this season.
After 49 games played, the team is in the final spot of the Atlantic Division with an 18-26-5 record, 10 points behind the Detroit Red Wings, who are at the seventh rank in the division.
Trading their best young players could be a massive risk for the Sabres, one that could make them fall further behind in their rebuilding process.
Unless they get an amazing offer in return, keeping Power, who could be a part of the solution in Buffalo, is an unlikely scenario.
