Trade rumors are heating up after an NHL analyst predicted that the New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba will be traded to a Canadian market.

Many leaders in the New York Rangers locker room have been involved in trade rumors over the past month. Notably, Jacob Trouba could find himself on the trade block once again.
The Rangers tried to trade Trouba in the summer, but couldn't reach a deal. Now, with the team's struggles, general manager Chris Drury is considering all his options, including trading the veteran defenseman.
The only problem is that Trouba comes with an $8,000,000 AAV contract. Most of the NHL teams aren't in the right financial situation to make a deal happen.
Nonetheless, Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney discussed Trouba's possible destinations in a recent episode of Spittin' Chiclets.
The former NHLers shared their thoughts about the possibility of seeing Troube joining the Edmonton Oilers.
Whitney stated that every team would like to have Trouba in their lineup, and Bissonette pointed out that his salary could be a problem, and that the Rangers should retain some of it. He added that they should've kept Broberg instead.
Listen to their full discussion here:
Of course, the Oilers don't look good right now in the Philip Broberg offer sheet debate. The defenseman has been great this season despite an injury, tallying nine points in 13 games.
With a $4,580,917 cap hit, he could turn out to be an absolute bargain for the St. Louis Blues.
The Oilers would certainly take Broberg over Trouba any time, but he clearly won't be available on the trade market.
Trouba would be an interesting addition to the Oilers' defensive unit. He's renowned for delivering brutal hits to his opponents, forcing them to change their style (and keep their heads up).
In the playoffs, teams need that kind of player in the ranks. But right now, most organizations who have what it takes to pay for him likely won't be in the playoffs, like the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Buffalo Sabres.
Where do you think he'll end up?
