The New York Rangers are a team reeling right now with trade speculation and struggles, and now it appears Kaapo Kakko may be the next piece moved.

Over the past week, the New York Rangers organization has been spiralling, with a report emerging that Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba were available for trade, with the team picking up just one win in their last seven games since that report.
Now, it may not be just those two that are available, as veteran NHL Insider David Pagnotta has speculated that it may be former No. 2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko that's on the way out first.
I have gotten the sense in the last few days that Kakko's name is a little bit more prominent as they try to bring in somebody that can slot into their top-six, and maybe Kakko is the main piece that gets moved out.

He's on pace for 40-odd points, a bit of a rebound from last season, but still not at the echelon that they expected the second-overall pick to be.
Unsurprisingly, it appears as though New York have finally run out of patience with Kakko, as he simply hasn't become who he thought they would be, and if moving him can net them a consistent veteran in their top-six, it's a no brainer move from the Rangers.
Kakko has drawn significant interest in recent years from rebuilding teams that believe they can find his top value, but after continuing to believe in him for all this time, it appears his time in New York is coming to an end.
New York however still remain a potential playoff threat, so it's unclear if they'll move everyone that they have stated is available, but given all of the rumours, it's easy to assume that there's more than one big trade coming in the Big Apple in the near future.
