The Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators have finalized a late night trade.
The Nashville Predators have traded right-handed defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for right-handed defenseman Justin Barron.
Justin Barron, 23, has a point in 17 games played with the Montreal Canadiens in the 2024-25 season.
Barron is a four-year NHL veteran who has played with the Colorado Avalanche and the Montreal Canadiens, traded to the Habs in 2022 for Artturi Lehkonen.
A young defenseman, Barron is an offensive oriented defenseman with a strong shooting ability, having scored seven goals in 48 games for the Canadiens in 2023-24. He currently is making $1.15M yearly until 2025-26.
Alexandre Carrier, born in Quebec, has a goal and seven points in 28 games with the Nashville Predators this season, registering seven points (1G, 6A) in addition to serving 12 penalty minutes.
