New York Rangers trade former 2nd overall pick Kaapo Kakko
Tonight the New York Rangers have made a major move and decided to trade forward Kaapo Kakko in a blockbuster move to the Seattle Kraken.
After speculation over the last week due to Kakko being scratched from the Rangers lineup a trade has now been completed to give him a fresh start in a new city.
Earlier this week Kakko was scratched by New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette.
The move sparked a lot of controversy and Kakko added fuel to the fire voicing his frustration over the move.
The speculation led to other teams from around the NHL checking in on Kakko and quickly a deal was struck between the New York Rangers and Seattle Kraken.

According to multiple reports Kakko has been traded to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for defenseman Will Borgen and a pair of draft picks.
The trade becomes the second major move that the Rangers have made this month after sending their former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks.
While things have not gone according to plan for Kakko over the last couple of seasons he has shown signs of promise in the past.
In 2022-23 Kakko tallied 40 points over a full season and looked to be primed for a big jump the year after.
Unfortunately, since then he has regressed and just really never found a solidified role in the Rangers lineup.
Now he will head to Seattle who are building around a young core and join a lineup where he can get more consistent minutes and try to get his confidence back.
It seems that GM Chris Drury is continuing to re-tool the Rangers roster as they have struggled to find the success of the last few seasons.
