The Winnipeg Jets are looking like a major contender in 2024/25, and now, they may be enlisting the help of a three-time Stanley Cup Champion.

The story of Jonathan Toews potential return has been a very intriguing one this season, with the former Blackhawks captain revealing that after a healing trip to India, he's in arguably the best shape of his life.

That's sparked interest in a return to the NHL after the former Blackhawks captain stated he wasn't done in hockey, and now, Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has expressed interest in the three-time Stanley Cup Champion.

However, he has noted in a recent interview that the process of Toews returning to the NHL may be much slower than some fans would anticipate, as there's plenty of layers to go through before he gets back on the ice.

"I think he's going to have to push himself to get his body to respond and see how it responds. I think there's a lot of layers yet from that standpoint."

Would Cheveldayoff be interested in bringing in Toews as a potential 2 or 3 C ahead of the trade deadline however? It appears as though he very much would be.

"Knowing what standard he holds himself to as an athlete and what impact he wants to have in games when he plays, I think it will be an interesting journey to watch."

The last time Toews played in the NHL was back in 2022/23 with Chicago, tallying 31 points in 53 games, so while he may not come in and be a point-per-game player, his experience and leadership would no doubt help any team that he joins.

Winnipeg aren't the only team to express interest in Toews however, and if he gets back to full health and up to full speed, don't be shocked to see plenty of interest around the league from many playoff contenders this season.
