According to Elliotte Friedman's article on Sportsnet, the Capitals are acquiring CapFriendly.
Friedman notes that the site will remain operational until July 5th, allowing users to access it during the NHL Draft and the onset of Free Agency before it transitions to a private platform.
CapFriendly has served as a vital roster resource for NHL GMs and staff, offering comprehensive cap-related information. The acquisition grants the Capitals exclusive access to the site's array of data and roster tools, including financial calculators and detailed roster information.
Moreover, CapFriendly recently expanded its services to include scouting reports for the NHL Draft, powered by Pro Hockey Group, established by former Panthers Director of Amateur Scouting, Jason Bukala.
For fans, CapFriendly's 'Armchair GM' and "Trade Machine" tools have been immensely popular, enabling them to analyze team rosters and simulate trade scenarios effectively. These tools not only facilitate realistic team-building exercises but also ensure compliance with the NHL's regulations.
It remains uncertain whether this acquisition will affect CapFriendly's basketball counterpart, SalarySwish. Monumental Sports, the owner of the Capitals, also possesses the NBA's Washington Wizards. At present, CapFriendly has not issued an official statement regarding the reported purchase.
CapFriendly emerged in 2015 as a successor to CapGeek, following the passing of its founder, Matthew Wuest, after battling colon cancer.
