After serving as a coach for three years with the Vancouver Canucks, Manny Malhotra joined the Maple Leafs as an assistant in 2020. With his acceptance of a position as Head Coach of the Canucks AHL club, the Abbotsford Canucks, the young coach has now formally returned to his coaching roots.
With changes anticipated, it's not surprising that the Leafs have already seen one significant departure. This comes after the organization named Craig Berube as the new head coach. Though Marc Savard, a former Flames coach, is anticipated to join them in the upcoming weeks, Malhotra says goodbye to the Maple Leafs organization for the time being;
Malhotra worked in a variety of capacities throughout the 202324 season, including faceoffs, power play, and penalty kill. However, at 44, he was prepared to go to head coach, and he now has the formal opportunity to do so.
