The New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks complete a major trade
GMs of the New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks, Kyle Davidson, and Lou Lamoriello, have reached an agreement on a trade that involve many first-round picks.
The deal between the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Islanders was just announced.
TRADE ALERT: #Isles acquire picks #20, #54, and #61 in this year's draft from the #Blackhawks for Picks #18 and #50.
TRADE
Tragic end to Stanley cup champion Corey Perry's NHL career
To Chicago #Blackhawks
2024 1st RD pick (#18 - NYI)
2024 2nd RD pick (#50 - NYI)
To New York #Isles
2024 1st RD pick (#20 - TBL)
2024 2nd RD pick (#54 - LAK)
2024 2nd RD pick (#61 - VAN) The Blackhawks will forfeit a second-round late selection in order to advance two spots in the first round and four spots in the second.
Teams trading selections long in advance of the draft is not unheard of, but it seems probable that the Blackhawks want to move up in the 2024 draft. In addition to receiving extra draft cash, the Islanders will be able to strengthen their depleted prospect pool by using their late second on some elite talent.
More information will be provided soon.
