NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has connected the Vancouver Canucks, who had a dismal season finale, to a significant summer transaction.
Rumours of standout forward Elias Pettersson being transferred have gained more steam leading up to the NHL trade deadline. There were valid discussions even though the transaction eventually fell through. Trade negotiations have resumed following Elias Pettersson's lackluster postseason showing.
Playoff stats:
JT Miller: 13GP / 12P / .92ppg
Elias Pettersson: 13GP / 6P / .46ppg
Pettersson's numbers are very concerning against top teams. He'll need to work heavily on leg/core strength + speed/power skating this off season to compete at the highest level
Following their playoff defeat, it was revealed that Elias Pettersson had been out for several months due to a serious injury that affected his play.
Trade speculations regarding Elias Pettersson have already started up again as we approach the offseason. Sending him to Carolina this time, maybe as a trade for Martin Necas. Martin Necas seems to be the target of the Vancouver Canucks, who appear to be exploring many options for acquiring him.
EF says Necas was in a potential Petterson to CAR deal. Also wonders if #Canucks are still interested in Necas. Wonders about a Hronek for Necas swap type of deal
EF has heard on Kotkaniemi, that other teams including VAN are interested should he be made available
Many NHL clubs are still in the midst of their offseason. There will probably be a frenzy of movements involving these two teams as the NHL Draft approaches. Make sure to return here for all the most recent updates and notes as soon as the craziness starts.
