In his media appearance of the season, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov didn't hold back when he took a strong jab at his former team, the Calgary Flames.
The Edmonton Oilers eliminated the Canucks a few days ago, and yesterday was the customary post-season interview day for the players. Among them, Nikita Zadorov mentioned his old team, the Calgary Flames, in some thought-provoking ways.
Zadorov ultimately changed clubs early in the season after requesting a trade last summer, joining the Canucks in Vancouver.
With his statement that the Canucks have a larger fan base and the Flames aren't even the most well-liked club in Alberta, he took a serious jab at the franchise.
"Hockey in Canada is different. I can compare it to Calgary, but I feel like Vancouver fanbase is way bigger. Calgary's not even the #1 team in Alberta... it's obvious. There's more Edmonton fans because they've had a better history throughout the years."
A reporter asked him about his future contract and how he argued for a significant raise this summer during the same interview. This time, he responded in the greatest way imaginable, tearing up Edmonton:
"How much do you think I should make? I don't know where you get those numbers from, the trees? You've gotta stop listening to Edmonton reporters."
What is your prediction on Nikita Zadorov's summer contract signing with the Edmonton Oilers?
