The Vancouver Canucks have officially emerged as frontrunners in the Martin Necas sweepstakes per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

Today NHL insider Elliotte Friedman took to the radio to share major news pertaining to the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas.
"And the Necas one is a big one. And, you know, I got a call this morning. I think there's something to this. And I'm sure they're not the only one, but I think there's something to Vancouver. I do. I think the Canucks like the player. Like I said, I don't think they're the only ones.

I think Carolina is going to have some options here. But you heard about Patrik Allvin yesterday, talking about what they were looking at. And Necas, from a pure hockey point of view, forgetting the contract for a second, because Vancouver's got some hoops they have to jump through. I can see that shift. I can. And I do think it's something that the Canucks are at least looking at." - Elliotte Friedman

The Canucks have a wealth of offensive talent with players like Elias Pettersson, JT Miller, Brock Boeser, Elias Lindholm, and many others so adding a guy like Necas could elevate both Necas but also his linemates.
We still await an official trade but as it looks right now, the Canucks are frontrunners for the Czech winger.
