Elliotte Friedman recently proposed a trade involving Vancouver's Elias Pettersson, and now a Canucks reporter reveals that the two sides have had prior discussion.

This season hasn't gone the way that Vancouver's Elias Pettersson would have liked, as he's been involved in plenty of speculation surrounding veteran forward J.T. Miller, as he took a leave of absence.
On the ice, EP40 has improved immensely in recent times, but still isn't at the level we've seen from him, and it's prompted trade speculation, with Elliotte Friedman suggesting a blockbuster deal involving him and the Buffalo Sabres, where the Canucks would get Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram in return.
Now, Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal has discussed his comments, revealing something shocking about Vancouver and Pettersson in the process, as Dhaliwal notes the two sides had conversations early in the year surrounding the star forward.
"Earlier this year when Pettersson was struggling Buffalo called Vancouver and they talked.."
While this certainly doesn't mean the Canucks are going to give Pettersson away for nothing, it does indicate that they are willing to listen on the star centre, and with Buffalo needing another star to lead them forward, perhaps an international teammate of captain Rasmus Dahlin may be the move to make.
In his comments, Dhaliwal revealed that the player Vancouver sought the most was forward Alex Tuch, but given his leadership and his value to Buffalo, it makes sense that the team were unwilling to deal him.
Given all of the drama surrounding Vancouver this season, it's unclear if Pettersson will be moved or not, but as of right now we do know that there has been discussions, and if the team believe that he doesn't give them the best chance to win, expect a move of some kind to be made soon.
