The Vancouver Canucks landed a potential gem in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Draft, and now Vilmer Alriksson is on the move in the Ontario Hockey League.

Despite some huge trades moving prospects in recent times, the Vancouver Canucks still have a fairly good prospect group in the organization, with the team landing a few potential gems in recent years.
One of those came in the 2023 NHL Draft when they landed Vilmer Alriksson with the No. 107 draft pick, with the Swedish winger joining the Guelph Storm of the OHL a season ago.
While his 2023/24 campaign was solid, he's taken his game to another level this year, posting 11 goals and 23 points in 26 games played thus far, and with the Storm struggling, the team have now officially traded him.
"The Storm would like to thank Vilmer for his hard work and dedication to the organization over the past two seasons and would like to wish him and his family the best as he finishes his OHL career and moves on to the Vancouver Canucks organization."
In 93 games over the last two years, Alriksson has posted 28 goals and 56 points for the Storm, but with the team sitting last in their conference, a trade simply made sense, with the left winger now heading to the Brampton Steelheads.
Standing at 6-foot-6 with a natural goal scoring ability, it's easy to see why Vancouver took a shot on him in the middle rounds of the draft, and at 19-years of age, he's showing the exact development you'd want out of this player.
Now, he faces the test of acclimatizing to new surroundings, and if he can meet this challenge head on and improve his early production, it's safe to say that the team may have found a future NHLer.
