Devin Shore has been a solid depth piece for the Minnesota Wild this season, but with a roster freeze approaching over the holiday break, they've now waived him as they look to solidify their roster heading into a potential Stanley Cup push.

The Minnesota Wild have always had the potential to be a great team with this current group, and with the team staying healthy in 2024/25 they're off to a great start, posting a 20-7-4 record through 31 games played thus far.
Now, with the holidays approaching and an upcoming roster freeze, the team have decided to make a risky move, as they have placed veteran centre Devin Shore on waivers after a slow start to the new season with Minnesota.
The 30-year old veteran has played in 455 games in the NHL over his career thus far, and while his impact on the scoresheet hasn't been felt in 2024/25, he remains a solid leader for the team.
While the team deciding to waive him may not show his value to the team, they believe he will pass through, and when (and if) he does, the team can save some valuable cap space by maneuvering him between Minnesota and Iowa.
While Shore has found success in the AHL with the Iowa Wild this season, posting 10 points in 14 games, he's yet to tally a point in 12 NHL games, being a +1 through those 12 games in 2024/25, serving more as a depth piece than anything.
Given that the 30-year old has never been truly productive on the scoresheet in the NHL, it's unlikely that there will be huge attention and interest for him on waivers, but if there's a team out there that believes he could help them as a bottom-six centre, don't be surprised to see potentially one team looking to acquire him.
