The Buffalo Sabres hold the NHL's longest active Stanley Cup Playoff drought, and while hopes were high coming into the new season, they've struggled in recent times, posting an 0-7-3 record in their last 10 overall games.
That has them sitting in seventh place in the Atlantic Division, and with the team and the fanbase clearly getting frustrated, the sense around the team was that something needed to change.
Those changes became possible on Monday when it was reported that owner Terry Pegula was heading to Montreal to meet with the team ahead of a matchup against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Now, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has revealed exactly what the message was coming out of that meeting, and it was a very simple one:
Despite speculation that a coaching change or perhaps even a General Manager change was on the way, Pegula reiterated the belief that ownership has in their current group, signalling nothing major coming anytime soon.
On top of that, there have been many reports of interest in young centre Dylan Cozens, and while the team may not turned down a huge offer for the 23-year old, it's now clear that they aren't actively shopping him or any other player at this point in time.
Only time will tell how long the belief in this current group will last, and if the team can't turn things around before the trade deadline, expect this message to change as the team look to get out of their seemingly endless rebuild.
