The Boston Bruins could continue to make some big moves out of the situation that has seen head coach Jim Montgomery fired.
Among the items being considered is a trade for the services of defenseman Nikita Zadorov, perhaps to the Vancouver Canucks.
This has been posited by respected NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, while he has made it clear it was more speculation than actual rumor.
Friedman weighed in on the situation in his latest '32 Thoughts' column, recalling how in a hurry Zadorov was to be leaving Vancouver after arriving just as quickly last year.
Coming over in an in-season trade from the Calgary Flames, the Canucks let him walk in free agency after some apparent controversy.
Zadorov hasn't been overly impactful after he inked a six-year, $30 million deal with Boston.
In 20 games with the Bruins, Zadorov has five assists but no goals.
He's seeing 19:10 in ice time, near a career-high, with 55 hits, 19 blocked shots, and a major role on the kill.
The overall output simply hasn't been as good as hoped in Boston.
A deal to Vancouver requires some creative cap management, given the club has just $2.3 million in cap space, and thus would need to get rid of salary to make a deal possible.
The Bruins are trying to put together a strong forward unit and could very well be in on a deal that balances the books for both teams to give them what they're trying to attain.
