4 Canadian Teams Linked to Top Flyers Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen
Rasmus Ristolainen seems to be on the move from Philadelphia this season, and now four Canadian teams have been linked to a blockbuster deal.
The Philadelphia Flyers have plenty of talent on their roster, but right now they appear no threat to the Stanley Cup Playoffs race in a loaded Eastern Conference.
That has led them to be the centre of plenty of trade speculation this season, and now, it appears to be a matter of when, not if they trade talented defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.
In 47 games this season, Ristolainen has one goal and 12 points, but it's the defensive side of his game that has taken a leap, making him one of the best in the NHL at his position.
The former Buffalo Sabre has taken his game to another level in 2024/25, and now, the Daily Faceoff have linked him to a total of four Canadian teams, all of whom could use an upgrade on their blue line.
According to that report, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers are all top trade destinations for him, even if some have more assets to part with than others.
The most intriguing spot of all would be the Winnipeg Jets, as the team are in need of an upgrade in their top-four, and with an elite offensive group combined with the best goaltender in the NHL this season, adding a defenseman the caliber of Ristolainen would be a huge play.
Ultimately though, there's not many pieces out there on the blue line available, as Rasmus Andersson and Ivan Provorov (who may or may not be available) represent the only two other star level defenseman available, so in looking for an upgrade on the blue line, all of these Canadian teams will no doubt have plenty of competition to land him.
