The Vancouver Canucks are a team looking to shake things up, and now Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Vincent Desharnais is likely on the way out.

The Vancouver Canucks made some changes to their team this summer, with the additions of Daniel Sprong and Vincent Desharnais standing out as some of their top additions after an incredible 2023/24 campaign.
The team have already moved on from Sprong, and now it appears the same fate is on the cards for the veteran Desharnais, who came over from the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent in the summer.
Things simply haven't worked out however, and now top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has expanded on reports that emerged this week that the team are actively trying to trade the 28-year old blue liner.
In Vancouver, reports surfacing this week that they are trying to move defenseman Vincent Desharnais, unfortunately it just hasn't worked out as well as player and team would have hoped.

I did hear a little bit that the Canucks preferred draft picks in return, because they wanted some roster and cap flexibility, but the Canucks I have now heard are willing to consider all options in order to help get Desharnais a fresh start.
Heading into free agency, Desharnais had played in just 117 career NHL games with the Oilers, and while he didn't produce at a high level during that time, it's hard to ignore his 6-foot-7 frame on the ice, and he was a logical addition for Vancouver to make in free agency.
However, the blue line just simply hasn't clicked the way that they would have liked, and if the team can move Desharnais for a draft pick or two, it will give them more ammo to go after a top name on the trade market as they look to push for a Stanley Cup in 2024/25.
