Elliotte Friedman Reveals Lots of Interest for Bruins' Forward on the Trade Market
The Bruins start to the 2024/25 season hasn't been as stellar as we've seen in recent years, and now it appears they could be shaking it up by moving Trent Frederic.
Trent Frederic has been an improving forward every single year in the NHL for the Boston Bruins, and now the 26-year old center is in the final year of his contract before hitting unrestricted free agency this summer.
Unsurprisingly, this has the Boston Bruins weighing up his future, and while a possible extension hasn't been ruled out, it appears that they are now looking to potentially move him.
According to Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet, there's plenty of interest around the league in him as well, with the team receiving plenty of calls asking if the team are willing to move him ahead of the trade deadline.
Trent Frederic of the Boston Bruins, he's unsigned for next year. The Bruins are definitely getting a lot of calls asking 'What are you thinking here? Are you keeping him? Will he be available?' He's a guy that's definitely got a lot of interest.
It's unclear at this point whether or not the Bruins are actively shopping the 26-year old or whether they are simply listening to calls, but unless a deal can be worked out for a long-term extension, it makes sense for them to be listening.
After a career high 40 points a season ago, Frederic has put together 5 goals and 11 assists thus far in 32 games this season, and while he may not net the Bruins the return they would likely want, his potential and toughness make him an ideal target for many contending teams.
Ultimately, it would certainly make sense for the Bruins to engage in the interest around Frederic, and if they can find a deal that works for their future and the present, don't be shocked to see a deal come together.
