Canadian Team Emerges in the Mix as Canucks GM Patrik Allvin Shops Elias Pettersson
The Ottawa Senators could potentially be in on Elias Pettersson as Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin continues to scramble.
The Vancouver Canucks certainly have not had the season their fans were expecting.
This is largely sue to the fact that the team has been mired in trade rumors all year long as JT Miller and Elias Pettersson continue to have beef with each other.
For much of the season, it seemed as though Miller would be the player on the move as he is both older and more problematic than Pettersson.
However, recent reports indicate that Pettersson may be the one to get traded after all.
Naturally, speculation has now emerged as to which teams may be in on Pettersson and where he would be most likely to end up.
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, one team that could be in on him is the Ottawa Senators, as they look to deal young center Josh Norris in an effort to upgrade down the middle.
Pettersson has had a down year with just 11 goals and 30 points through 42 games.
That is far below his scoring rate over the past two seasons in which he scored 102 and 89 points, respectively.
Fans have speculated that this is because of all the rumors as well as the real possibility of locker room issues.
This would make sense as Miller is also having a down year, scoring under a point-per-game for the first time since 2020-21.
That being said, Pettersson would be a huge get for the Senators as they look to snap their seven-year playoff drought.
It is easy to imagine how his scoring would improve on a new team as well.
