All the attention in Vancouver right now may be on star forward J.T. Miller, but the team are ready to shake it up in a big way, with winger Brock Boeser becoming one of the top trade candidates on the market ahead of the March 7th trade deadline.
At this point in time, there's plenty of candidates to land the 27-year old, but according to Bleacher Report, the Pittsburgh Penguins may very well be one of them, as they've named them as one of six landing spots for Boeser.
With the Penguins likely looking for a fire sale, acquiring a pending free agent would be a surprising move, but if the team could ink him to a major extension, he would be the perfect second-line winger to play alongside veteran star Evgeni Malkin.
It's unclear however what the team would give up, as their potential fire sale would likely be to acquire future assets, so giving them away to land a 27-year old that may or may not extend with the team would be a major risk.
Without risk however comes no reward, with Boeser tallying 40 goals a season ago and 15 thus far in 2024/25, and put with the right pieces, he could clearly become one of the top wingers in the league.
Ultimately, Kyle Dubas has some tough decisions to make in the very near future, and whether or not he buys to push the team further in now or he moves veteran pieces to continue building for years beyond 2024/25, Boeser could be a very intriguing option for them.
