According to Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have encountered a significant obstacle in their negotiations with free agents Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Despite initial expectations for smooth dealings between the players and the organization, a recent report suggests potential complications in reaching agreements.
In a recent segment on "Leafs Morning Take," Friedman disclosed that both Domi and Bertuzzi are seeking multi-year contracts, but the Leafs may be hesitant to commit to extended terms:
"I know Domi wants some term. Look, I think Max Domi is a perfect Leaf. I think he's going to be happy to be here for a long time. I think Toronto is nervous of term. I think if they can find a term number that makes sense to both sides, then I think it happens."

"Bertuzzi is the interesting one. I also think they want to bring him back. But again, I think the Leafs are trying to be really careful about term, and that's one thing that I was warned, if they lose some of these players, it's probably going to be because of term more than AAV."
Both Domi and Bertuzzi may attract enticing offers from other NHL teams as of July 1st. The Leafs would be wise to secure their signatures before this date. However, Leafs General Manager Treliving must address his reservations regarding contract length and be willing to meet the players' terms.
As for whether the Toronto Maple Leafs will successfully re-sign both Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi this summer, it remains uncertain given the complexities surrounding contract negotiations and the potential for competing offers from other teams.
