Mitch Marner's grandmother has spoken out in response to yesterday's announcement that Kurtis from Alberta, Maple Leafs superfan, may be sued by Leafs Sponsor.

For the past three years, a Toronto Maple Leafs superfan from a small town in Alberta has become a source of amusement. Kurtis Stevenson, who produces a number of animated videos from his basement filled with memorabilia, has gained popularity due to his enthusiastic commentary and his never-ending list of catchphrases. Stevenson's passion for the Leafs has made him an internet sensation and possibly their most colorful fan. He is frequently seen drinking a lot of beer in the videos.
However, it appears that the Leafs organization no longer appreciates his work in spite of that passionate coverage. Stevenson claims that his "favorite team" called him recently and threatened to take legal action against him if he continued to produce his videos. Furthermore, it appears that this is a case of beer envy. The Molson Coors family sponsors the Leafs, but Stevenson regularly swills Clock Out beer from SYC Brewing in Edmonton. The beer can be shipped anywhere in Canada, according to SYC, which even produced a "Kurtis From Alberta" edition.
This has been a divisive call among Leafs fans, with some viewing Stevenson's videos as harmless expressions of fan support and others comprehending the team's worries about brand conflicts. However, many were disappointed by the move because they believe he embodies the spirit and passion of Leafs Nation, and many fans who follow the team online have come to rely on his unadulterated enthusiasm.
Sandra Viau, the grandmother of Leafs player Mitch Marner, is among the more outspoken advocates in this respect. Viau expresses dissatisfaction with the team's choice, believing it is unfair to deny a devoted fan their freedom. According to her, Stevenson's videos add a certain amount of happiness to the Leafs' fan base and can undoubtedly coexist with his beer preferences. Viau is adamant that his loyalty is not outweighed by the brand conflict.
Many fans and non-Leafs fans have been very supportive of Kurtis online.

It's a question that pits fan expression against corporate sponsorship. The most ardent supporters, such as Sandra Viau, believe that Stevenson's videos are a genuine show of support that ought to be promoted rather than restrained. The majority anticipate that the Leafs will allow Stevenson to post his passion into the Leafs community once more without jeopardizing their brand partnership.
