Susie Diaz, a SAP Center usher, has made it a point to have Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau remembered in a very special way ever since their deaths. To ensure that there was a single, group effort to remember them, she ordered number 13 pins for every usher in San Jose. She was very considerate, and it only serves to highlight how deeply committed the SAP Center community is.
Regretfully, Susie Diaz did not finish her considerate gesture before she passed away in September. Even though they were not present, her family made sure that her wish was granted, and tonight the pins were brought to the SAP Center to honor Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. It illustrates the family's dedication in a similar manner to how Susie demonstrated her compassion and dedication to her job and community.
Serving fans and the San Jose Sharks for more than 20 years, Jesusita "Susie" Diaz was an important part of the ushering and guest experience team. Her coworkers will recall her as a diligent and trustworthy individual, exhibiting the kind of upbeat demeanor and customer service that SAP Center takes great pride in providing.
Susie was one of those people who attracted others to her because she was kind, amiable, and adored by both staff and fans. She was a respected and valued member of the San Jose Sharks family because of her long-term dedication. She made enduring relationships with the people she worked with and the numerous fans she met over the years, so her influence went far beyond her job description.
In remembrance of the Gaudreau's and Susie Diaz herself, SAP Center honors a woman who contributed a great deal of thought and commitment.
Rest in Peace, Susie.
