NHL expert Frank Seravalli has suggested a one for one trade idea involving Mitch Marner and Seth Jones between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Known for his insights into NHL trades, Frank Seravalli recently discussed teams that could be a match for Mitch Marner from the Leafs.
He proposed a big trade scenario between the Blackhawks and the Leafs.
Seravalli: One team that makes a ton of sense for me for Mitch Marner, the Chicago Blackhawks.

Host: What are the Blackhawks sending back to Toronto?

Seravalli: Does Seth Jones interest you at all? Straight up Marner for Jones, who says no?

Marner has one year remaining on his contract compared to Jones six years. Opinions vary on whether Jones' overpaid by the Blackhawks at $9,500,000. However if some of his salary were retained by Chicago, trading him for Marner might make sense.
Seravalli also touched upon Jones contract situation. Expressed that retaining part of it may not be necessary.
"I think, regardless of whatever you think of the contract, he's still a number one defenseman and he's way better than anything else they've got. And technically cap wise you would be saving almost 2 million bucks." - Frank Seravalli

Swapping Jones for Marner could land the Leafs a top tier defenseman to play alongside Morgan Rielly, while also cutting costs making it a potential trade scenario.
