Pittsburgh Penguins affiliated defenseman Xavier Ouellet leaves the organization

It was announced today that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Xavier Ouellet has left North America to pursue hockey in the KHL.
Xavier Ouellet has officially left North America to sign with Dynamo Minsk of the KHL and will be moving forward with his hockey career in Belarus.
Ouellet has spent the past two years with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL being an alternate captain in both and leading them on the blue-line. In 63 games last year, Ouellet scored 2 goals and 25 points which was second in defenseman scoring.

Ouellet was also an AHL all-star this past year but was replaced by Alex Nylander due to injury.
Ouellet has a wealth of NHL experience as he played in 178 career games split between the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens. Before joining the Penguins organization, he spent four years captaining the Laval Rocket of the AHL.

Moving forward, the 30-year-old defenseman will look to impress at the KHL level and hopefully return to the NHL one day proving that he is not finished at the top level.
