Sidney Crosby's response to a recent intriguing question posed to the Pittsburgh Penguins by their social media team might have been the most unexpected of all.

Despite receiving a ridiculously low salary for his next contract from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby is still the greatest hockey player. The captain of the Pens, who normally makes $8.7 million US a season, agreed to a two-year extension with the team earlier this month, keeping him around through the 2026-2027 campaign.
Since the start of training camp, Crosby has been committed to improving his team and making sure the Penguins make the playoffs this time around.
Nonetheless, the Pittsburgh media team has made an effort to keep things lighthearted and has frequently posed humorous questions to the players in the past, which they subsequently share on social media to amuse followers. When the players arrived and left practice on Wednesday, they were asked, "What would your career be if you didn't play hockey?"
Some of Crosby's teammates gave intriguing answers, such as "farmer," "sport psychologist," or "magician," while others stuck to sports and pondered whether they would have chosen to play tennis, golf, or soccer instead.
Given how much athletes are around sports, it should come as no surprise that many of the responses still had some connection to sports, but captain Sidney Crosby's response was arguably the most intriguing.
Without hesitation, No. 87 stated that his dream job would be a firefighter. Considering his size, leadership qualities, and desire to serve others, this is an excellent, if unexpected, response that made him stand out from the other members of his team.
This makes us think of a Tim Horton's commercial that Crosby did years ago with Nathan MacKinnon, another native of Cole Harbour, in which 87 admitted he was afraid of heights but carried out the fire drill nonetheless.
Fortunately for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Canada, and many fans worldwide, Crosby made the decision to follow his hockey dreams rather than fighting fires. As a result, he will go down in NHL history as one of the greatest players ever.
