Following his forced departure from last night's game, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty was given the worst possible prognosis by a doctor.

Last night, the Los Angeles Kings took on the Golden Knights in Las Vegas in their first preseason game. Thanks to big games from Warren Foegele, Kevin Fiala, and Quinton Byfield-all three of whom scored two points-they prevailed 3-2.
Even though the Kings won, they also suffered a significant loss when they got back to Los Angeles.
After taking a serious tumble close to the boards, defenseman Drew Doughty was forced to leave the game and never came back.
You can see the incident in the video below:
The defenseman's lower-body injury was later confirmed by the Kings in a post on X:
Dr. Harjas Grewal, who frequently offers his opinions on NHL injuries, stated that he believed Doughty had either broken his ankle or tore his Achilles tendon, or both:
The Kings may struggle far more than initial predictions suggested if they are forced to play without Doughty for a significant portion of the season. Since he is their best defenseman, the team's depth at the blue line suffers greatly in his absence.
The Kings' management is hoping that both Brandt Clarke, the eighth overall pick in 2021, and Joel Edmundson, who was signed this summer as a free agent, will be given more responsibility this season.
The likelihood of the team succeeding would be low if they are unable to replace Doughty.
We'll keep you updated on Doughty's condition.
