There's a lot of speculation out there about what is coming for the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Notably, reports already confirmed that only Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Philip Tomasino, and Owen Pickering were the only true "untouchable" players on the Pens' roster.
It's easy to see that many key players for the Penguins aren't on that list, such as Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang, Marcus Pettersson, Michael Bunting, and Rickard Rakell.
While it's not confirmed that all of these players will be traded, the fact that Kyle Dubas, the Penguins' President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, placed them on the block, means that he will hear out teams who want to make offers to land them on the market.
Letang's case is particularly intriguing. Indeed, it's hard to say if he'll remain in Pittsburgh. How could Dubas look Crosby and Malkin in the eyes and tell them he traded their longtime buddy for a rental or a prospect?
Marco D'Amico talked about it in a recent report:
To say that Letang will end up on the block is farfetched, but it could happen. As we saw, Dubas can be unpredictable at times and made questionable decisions in the past.
Trading Letang, Karlsson, or the others could be a smart move for the team if they can get a fair return, but we're far from being able to say that they are all on the block.
