With a terrible collapse in the second period on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Penguins' awful season continued as they drop 3 goals in 65 seconds to the Canucks.

Saturday night's game against the Vancouver Canucks might end up being one of the low points of the Pittsburgh Penguins' less than stellar start to the 2024-25 NHL regular season.
The Penguins had a 2-0 lead over the Canucks early on, so things were looking good for them. However, an almost unbelievable collapse in the second period would quickly turn the tide of the game. The Penguins would completely implode after a string of bad turnovers, which led to the Canucks scoring four goals in a row, including three in just 65 seconds.
The third goal of the 65-second assault would be scored by Canucks star forward J.T. Miller, cutting the Penguins' lead completely and giving his team a one-goal advantage. With Arshdeep Bains scoring his first NHL goal to give the Canucks a two-goal lead.
In addition to their collapse, which saw them give up three goals in just sixty-five seconds, the Penguins also lost a key forward who had just returned from injured reserve due to injury.
Following an awkward collision with Nils Hoglander along the boards in the third period of the Pittsburgh Penguins' 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, Bryan Rust was lost to what appeared to be a lower-body injury.
"He's being evaluated for a lower body injury," said Sullivan dismissing the inquiries into Rust's injury.

Rust gave Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead in the second period with his third goal of the year on a wrap-around. He completed 18 shifts with 13:18 of ice time at the end of the evening.
The Penguins, who have had a difficult start to the regular season, suffered an embarrassing defeat that could have cost them a lot of money if Bryan Rust's injury turns out to be as serious as it is.
The Penguins will return to Pittsburgh, so it's possible that fans and the media won't hear anything new until they land and the medical staff has a chance to reassess him at home.
