Penguins forward Reilly Smith changes agents
Now entering the final year of his current contract, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Reilly Smith may be looking for another move after he changed his agent.
Reilly Smith has had a turbulent 13-year career in the NHL so far. Following a Stanley Cup-winning performance in the 2022-23 season with the Vegas Golden Knights, the veteran forward was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 3rd-round pick in the upcoming draft.
"It is official. Original Misfit, Reilly Smith, has been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 3rd round pick in 2024.
Thank you Reilly for all you've done for our community the past 6 years!"
Now, after just one year with the team, it seems Pittsburgh is having trouble keeping Smith on the roster. The left-wing has iterated that he would prefer a trade, and though he could not get buyers at the deadline, he is being looked at by his former home with the Golden Knights, as well as by the Colorado Avalanche and Utah HC.
"Few updates on penguins' left-wing, Reilly Smith:
Kyle Dubas couldn't find a buyer for Smith at the deadline
Smith seems to prefer a move
Vegas, Colorado, Utah all in the mix
I'm just speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if he lands in Utah."
Despite no early buyers, Reilly Smith could just have opened more doors out of the Penguins for himself. Going into the last year of his current contract, the Pittsburgh forward changed his agency and is now represented by CAA Hockey.

No trade involving the Penguins forward has been confirmed. However, now under new representation, Reilly Smith could be on his way out of Pittsburgh for good.
