The San Jose Sharks have acquired Egor Afanasyev from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Ozzy Wiesblatt.
Afanasyev posted impressive numbers with 54 points in 56 AHL games last season after being drafted in the second round in 2019.
In contrast, Wiesblatt recorded 17 points in 50 AHL games but showed improvement in the playoffs, tallying nine points in 15 games. Wiesblatt, originally a first-round pick in the 2020 NHL draft, is set to join the Sharks with increased opportunities next season, while the Predators aim to develop him further alongside a player with potentially greater upside.
