Over the past week, the New York Rangers have seemingly been prepared to shake things up with their core, and before trading captain Jacob Trouba, insider Larry Brooks revealed that the team were interested in making a move for Brady Tkachuk.
That story completely took off, with the Ottawa Senators frustrated about the interest as owner Michael Andlauer went as far as to claim tampering from New York, with Brooks responding to the comments from the Senators Owner.
Ultimately though, it became very clear that Ottawa have no intentions of moving him, as they want the captain to be with the Senators for a long, long time to come.
When finally asked about the speculation, Tkachuk was much on the same page as the organization, reiterating that while he hadn't seen the reports, he believes in Ottawa and wants to stick around.
When asked if the trade rumours effected him at all, Tkachuk showed his maturity and leadership, simply brushing it off as something that doesn't bother him at all.
In years past, this is perhaps something that would bother a young player, but Tkachuk has come a long way during his tenure in Ottawa, and now he is showing that he's the leader this team always knew he could become.
This doesn't mean the speculation around him will necessarily quieten down, but the Senators have made it clear that they don't want to make a move involving their captain, but even if the speculation does continue, it's not going to bother this tight knit playing group.
