After a relatively slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, the Montreal Canadiens are on fire in recent times, with the team now within two points of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
This success comes on the back of the youth movement led by Lane Hutson and Cole Caufield, with rookie goaltender Jakub Dobes putting up historic numbers through his first few career starts as well.
Unfortunately, for those hoping to see top 2024 NHL Draft pick Ivan Demidov, General Manager Kent Hughes has confirmed that we won't be seeing him in a Habs jersey in 2024/25.
When addressing the front office's trip to Russia to see Demidov play, Hughes revealed that while he may head to North America at the end of this season, he won't play a game at the NHL level just yet.
These comments from Hughes show just how dedicated they are to making Demidov and this young core connected to the Canadiens organization, and given the tight knit group that they've become, it's clearly working thus far.
In 40 games with SKA St. Petersburg this season, Demidov has posted an impressive 13 goals and 31 points at just 19-years of age, so when he does arrive in Montreal, the hype will be like nothing we've ever seen before.
