Patrik Laine is adjusting to life in Montreal, and in his first media appearance, he shared insights about the two National Hockey League players he finds most challenging to face.

His move to the Montreal Canadiens this off-season came after much speculation about a potential trade from Columbus. Now paired with captain Nick Suzuki, Laine seems to be embracing his new role as a veteran on a young Canadiens team.
"I think we will have a pretty dangerous group on the ice," he mentioned enthusiastically. "It's a bit weird to be one of the oldest players even though I'm only 26. I've been in the league for a long time and have seen and experienced a lot. I hope to be able to share my knowledge with the young players and help them in certain situations."
Since joining Montreal, Laine has made it clear he's excited to contribute to a team stacked with young talent. However, the most captivating moment in his interview was when he revealed the players he finds toughest to compete against.
"I would say Victor Hedman just because of how good he is. He's so fast, so big, so strong, and so good with his stick. He's a nightmare to play against."

Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman was the first name on Laine's list. Known for his size, speed, and defensive skills, Hedman presents a challenge for anyone in the league. However, Laine didn't stop there. Unsurprisingly, he also mentioned Edmonton's Connor McDavid.
"There's also obviously Connor McDavid. There's nothing you can do against him! When he picks up the puck in his zone, all you can do is pray that he doesn't go and score!"

With a top-six forward lineup that includes Suzuki, Laine, Cole Caufield, and Juraj Slafkovsky, the Canadiens are full of optimism heading into the 2024/25 season. If Laine can rediscover the form that made him a star in Winnipeg, there's reason to believe this team could push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
Fortunately for Laine, he'll only face Hedman and McDavid five times throughout the season. Surrounded by young talent, the 26-year-old winger has a prime opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the league's top players.
