Regretfully, the Toronto Maple Leafs have revealed that three important players will be sidelined for the start of training camp because of injuries.
NHL insider Chris Johnston has revealed that Ben Danford has a concussion and Connor Dewar has a shoulder injury. During this camp, everyone was excited to be watching Fraser Minten closely, but sadly, he suffered a high ankle sprain a few days ago in a rookie game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Fraser Minten has been a high-profile player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he will now miss some time due to what appears to be a far more serious injury than initially thought.
Fraser Minten was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 38th pick in the second round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He played his junior season in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers prior to being drafted. He really started to establish himself as a vital member of his team in Kamloops, where he was shaped into a versatile player.
Although the duration of Minten's absence is unknown, David Alter claims that it will likely only take a few weeks rather than months. This is extremely encouraging for the young prospect, who was anticipated to compete for a roster spot at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season.
The Maple Leafs' starting six seems to be decided as of right now, but there are still plenty of opportunities for up-and-coming players to contend in training camp, so perhaps Minten can make a strong comeback and push for a spot in the NHL permanently this season.
We'll make sure to update you as more information about these three injuries becomes available in the next few days.
