After the Edmonton Oilers lost to the Florida Panthers, Leon Draisaitl grew emotional discussing his teammate and friend, Connor McDavid, in an interview.

The Oilers came within one goal of NHL history, nearly becoming the second team in the league to overcome a 0-3 deficit.
However, Canadian fans and the team must now wait longer to bring the Cup back to Canada.
In the aftermath of the heartbreaking defeat, Leon Draisaitl spoke passionately to the media about Connor McDavid, reflecting on their friendship and partnership.
This is what Draisaitl had to say:
"He's the greatest player to ever play in my books. So many things that a lot of people don't see that he does. He single-handedly turned our franchise around."

"Just love, love sharing the ice with him. He's just a really, really special person."

"It speaks to how amazing of a hockey player he is, but there's no player in the world that wants to win a Stanley Cup more than him. (He) does everything right every single day just to win it one day. It's really hard, especially with him (McDavid) being sad."

"But obviously it wasn't meant to be."

Hockey players aspire their entire lives to win the Stanley Cup, and for many Oilers players, achieving this dream remains elusive.
Despite winning the Conn Smythe Trophy, McDavid's quest for the Stanley Cup fell short. Draisaitl suggested that McDavid's focus may not even be on the trophy itself.
"I don't think he cares."
Next season, McDavid, Draisaitl, and the Oilers are aiming to reach the Stanley Cup Finals and secure the championship.
