A recent report confirmed the Buffalo Sabres' plan to buy out Jeff Skinner's contract.

Breaking news on X indicates that the Sabres are poised to part ways with Jeff Skinner before his contract concludes:
"BREAKING: #LetsGoBuffalo is expected to buy out the remaining 3 years on Jeff Skinner's contract, per @CMDeDominicis."
Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic analyzed the financial impact of Jeff Skinner's potential contract buyout. Fairburn noted that while Skinner is slated to earn $22 million in salary for the remainder of his contract, a buyout would only cost $14.67 million.
As stated by him:
"The financial implications of a Skinner buyout are important to consider, though. Skinner still has $22 million in salary left on his contract, and the actual dollars for a buyout would be $14.67 million. Here's an outline from CapFriendly on what the salary cap ramifications would be for a buyout this offseason. Values are in millions."

Skinner has been a key contributor to the team over the past six seasons, recording 291 points in 427 games. His standout season came in 2022-23, where he posted a career-high 82 points in 79 games.
However, he faced challenges maintaining that level in the 2023-24 season, managing 46 points but not matching his previous impact for the Sabres.
Stay tuned for more info.
