The New York Rangers are leading contenders to sign Patrick Kane in free agency.
After a season with the Detroit Red Wings, Patrick Kane's potential move to the New York Rangers has garnered attention, revisiting his past stints with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Red Wings.
Despite recovering from a hip injury that necessitated surgery following New York's early playoff exit, Kane showcased strong performances with the Rangers.
Now, with a solid recovery, the Rangers are reportedly keen on bringing him back. Kane's resilience was evident this season, contributing 47 points in 50 games for Detroit.
According to Chris Johnston:
There's been lots of smoke about a return to the Rangers...If we had to pick a frontrunner, I'd say it would be the Rangers.
During his end-of-season media session, Kane expressed his interest in remaining in Detroit if the opportunity arises. However, he remains open to offers from teams with stronger Stanley Cup aspirations.
At 35 years old, Kane is reportedly seeking a two or three-year contract.
Another source suggests that the New Jersey Devils are also in contention for his services.
Kane's going to be looking for, I would think, something like a 3-year contract. Maybe 2-year. The devils are in the details of the negotiations. I know there's been a lot of smoke about a return to #NYR.
Following their President's Trophy win and subsequent loss to the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, adding a game-changer like Kane could provide the push they need to reach the Stanley Cup Finals next season.
