Despite their recent success, no one is in a safe spot with the Pittsburgh Penguins, except Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
After their horrible start to the season, the Penguins are finally back in the race for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, only five points away from the Boston Bruins at the second Wild Card spot.
Looking to stop their losing streak to three games tonight against the Buffalo Sabres, results don't seem to matter at this point for President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the organization Kyle Dubas, who will make trades soon, according to The Athletic's Josh Yohe.
In a recent paper, he wrote that Marcus Pettersson, like other veterans, is as good as gone.
In his own words:
Dubas proved that he wants his team to get better and is ready to do anything to achieve his goal by placing veteran goalie Tristan Jarry on waivers earlier this week.
He must've suspected that Jarry's $5,375,000 AAV salary would dissuade teams to grab him, and it worked, as he reached the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL 24 hours later.
The Penguins will definitely be a team to follow closely in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, especially with all the interesting players who could end up switching teams before the end of the season.
