J.T. Miller's time in Vancouver appears all but over, and now an Eastern Conference contender is reportedly pushing hard to land the veteran star as the 31-year old continues to struggle for the Canucks despite a career year in 2024/25.
After another dreadful performance on Thursday night, a seemingly checked out J.T. Miller's time in Vancouver is likely over, with many teams lined up to land the veteran centre.
"He is struggling. He is caught in between. It seems like every time he is on the ice, something bad happens.
I think he has some bad luck, but he also has some reads that he has to look at himself right now, focus on some of these reads. I mean, you can't dive in on a four-on-four, things like that. I think he is trying, but I think the focus level has to get a little higher." - Rick Tocchet
With teams like the New York Rangers, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins all named as potential landing spots, perhaps the most intriguing of all has now been identified by NHL analyst Cam Robinson.
According to Robinson, it's the New Jersey Devils that are now firming as genuine candidates to land the talented 31-year old, and with the 1-2 combination of Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes down the middle, he'd be an incredible addition to this team.
It's unclear just how hard they've pushed already or what they're willing to give up, but after moving a first-round pick to land Jacob Markstrom in the off-season, it's clear now that the Devils are now in win-now mode and believe they can win in 2024/25.
Whether it's New Jersey or not, the effort that Miller gave while producing no points and a -2 differential in the Canucks 5-1 loss on Thursday shows he's checked out in Vancouver, and it would be best for Patrik Allvin and the team to move Miller sooner, rather than later.
Given the public feud with Elias Pettersson, it's been a long time coming, and with their suitors lining up, it's a matter of when, not if the team purge themselves of Miller, who has been creating a massive divide in the locker room as of late.
