For weeks now, it has appeared as though the Vancouver Canucks were on the verge of moving young star Elias Pettersson, and with the organization reeling as a result of his public feud with J.T. Miller, that sentiment hasn't changed.
We've seen Pettersson thus far linked to teams like the Islanders, Canadiens, Flames and many, many others, and now, another has potentially joined the conversation, with Aaron Portzline of The Athletic noting that the Blue Jackets could be an intriguing landing spot for the 26-year old.
As of yet, Portzline confirmed that no trade conversations have taken place between the teams, but that doesn't mean there isn't immense interest from the up-and-coming Blue Jackets, who have managed to battle for a Wild Card spot this year despite many believing they'd be one of the worst teams in the NHL in 2024/25.
Perhaps the biggest sticking point in a potential deal between the two would be the availability of young star Adam Fantili, who Columbus would love to pair with Pettersson as their 1-2 combo up front, but given what Vancouver would be giving up, it makes sense that they'd want the 19-year old in return.
Ultimately, the Blue Jackets could be major players for Pettersson depending on what the Canucks ask for in return, but if they could somehow make a deal happen without giving up Fantili or Sean Monahan, they'd have one of the best 1-2-3 centre combinations in the NHL and would be set up for success for years to come.
